oh, Violet

So this morning was a bit of a rough start for me. I went to bed plenty early and should have got up before I did. I finally got out of bed around 9:45am-ish. Kevin had decided he wanted to sleep in a little bit longer and would be late to class. I tried to wake him up but he was too sleepy. Finally he got up and had a bowl of cereal, but then went back to bed. I attempted to make my breakfast, which for the most part turned out ok.

Breakfast:

I tried to hard boil two eggs, but I was being impatient. So, I threw the first one away and decided (after I threw the first one away) that I could just eat the egg whites. I was bummed out about the first one, but oh well. One large hard boiled egg white has about 17cal. I also had half a red d'anjou pear (50cal), strawberry yoplait light cup (100cal) and a 1/2c bowl of oatmeal (150cal) with a 1/2tsp splenda/brown sugar mix (10cal) and 2Tbsp raisins (about 43cal). Total for breakfast: 370cal. It really filled me up too.

Snack:
By the time I needed to eat, I was running out the door to go to school (about 12:45pm); so I grabbed some on the go food: strawberry banana Naked Juice (240cal), strawberry Special K 90cal bar and the other half of my pear (50cal). Total: 380cal. I was also forgoing lunch because I thought we were going to have dinner at Kevin's family's house after his keyboarding lessons, but I thought wrong.

On the way to keyboarding lessons from school, we were going to stop at Wendy's so Kev could get a cheeseburger, but the car had died. Luckily we got it started again and went to a gas station. We've been having issues with the car starting when it gets hot outside and it's below like 1/2tank of gas. After we filled it up with gas though it didn't want to start. So we waited awhile and finally it turned back on and we decided not to go out to Roseville for keyboarding or to his family and just go straight home. We drove the back streets and I was stressed out the whole time. We made it home though.

Snack:
While I was making dinner I got a little hungry so I had a Laughing Cow cheese (35cal).

Dinner:

I made chicken, rice and green beans for dinner. I tried to do something new with the chicken by filling a pan with broth and carrots and onions and covering it with foil and baking it for 25 min, but the chicken didn't look right and I wasn't sure if it was cooked all the way. So I decided to saute it to make sure. The first result of that was not good. It smelled like formaldehyde as soon as I put it in the pan, but after putting garlic powder on it and pepper it was much better. The chicken (about 150cal) was a little tough, which is what I was trying to avoid, but at least it was cooked. I had my 1cup of rice (213cal) with a teaspoon of margarine (20cal) and 3/4c green beans (30cal). Total for dinner: 413calories. I could probably even round it down to 400 because my piece of chicken was probably not 4oz.

After dinner I watched Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice. I'd have to say, Private Practice had the better show tonite. At one point, Kevin and the two cats decided to come hang out with me on the couch. Pretty funny as Jasper (the black one) never likes to curl up ON somebody. Next to, yes, but on, no. That's Pogo's job (the grey/white one).

Total Calories for the Day: 1163 calories Pretty low today, but I was kind of stressed and didn't feel like eating much. I also didn't drink much water today. I was feeling my abs being a little sore though! Not a whole lot so I guess I needed to workout a little harder. Eh....we'll see.

Noo! Not the whole wheat buns!

Today seemed pretty unproductive for what I needed to get done. I woke up this morning at about 9am-ish and got out of bed around 9:30am. I made the bed and then made myself breakfast.

Breakfast:

I made myself some oatmeal (1/2c) (150cal) with a teaspoon of light brown sugar (15cal) and 1/2 a banana (about 45cal) cut into it. It was pretty yummy, but I guess I liked the splenda/brown sugar mix. It makes the oatmeal a little more sweeter. When Kevin got back from school (about noon) we had a heated discussion and I ended up with an insufficient amount of time to get ready for class, but decided I would go anyway. Total for Breakfast: 210cal.

Snack:
I had a strawberry Special K 90cal bar on the way to school, around 12:50pm, but I got about halfway and decided that I didn't really want to go to class. I just wasn't in the right mood to focus. So, I turned around and decided I would go to Safeway to pick up ingredients to make a home cooked meal. I wasn't sure what I was going to make yet, so I walked around looking at different things. I decided to check my email for SparkPeople recipes and found one for Sloppy Joes. On my way home from the store, I enjoyed a strawberry banana naked juice (240cal).

Lunch:

For lunch, around 3:30pm, I made myself a turkey and cheese sandwich. I used only like 1 tsp of mayo (30cal) and on the other slice of bread and spread my Laughing Cow cheese (35cal). The sandwich in total was 260cal. I also ate about 15 sunchips with it (140cal). I tried to work on my report and got a little done. I really do hate writing reports. I did get a little bit of core exercise in though. Made my abs feel a little sore, but I feel all better now. Kevin decided to take a nap and finally woke up sometime after 5pm.

Dinner:

This is what the first part of the sloppy joes looks like while sauteing.

He asked me to make dinner so I started on the new recipe for sloppy joes. Kevin was against it from the beginning. He said he hated sloppy joes. I asked him to just try mine, but during the process he was complaining. "What, you're putting green pepper in it!?"

When I finished it and put it on a whole wheat bun, that was the tipping point. He decided not to try it and said "A man needs meat and carbs!" and I pointed out that it had both, he said it wasn't enough. I did get a little snappy at him and retorted back "oh and pizza crust is enough??". So it was battle of the foods and mine lost. So, I promptly sat down and ate what I had handed him. And then as I was halfway done, I remembered that I forgot to take a picture of the finished product. So, I apologize for the half-eaten food picture.

It was pretty tasty and not sloppy at all. It was an excellent combination of veggies (It had carrots, yellow onion, green pepper and mushrooms. does onion, green pepper, and mushrooms count as veggies?), tomato sauce, whole crushed tomatoes in puree and barbeque sauce. Mmm Mmm. The sauce is about 193cal/serv and the bread was 160cal. So total for dinner: 353cal. It's less than the estimated calorie count of the recipe, but it's because I went and got the actual calorie info off my cans and bread bag and such. It'd probably go well with a salad.

Well, it's still early (about 8pm) so I'm sure I'll update this later to include a snack! Ciao!

Update:

So Kevin brought me home a dozen and half of white roses. What a good boyfriend he is. : )

Dessert:

We went to Baskin Robbins for their 31cent scoops! I had two scoops of very berry strawberry and 1 scoop of banana strawberry for a total of 430calories. Ah guilty calories, except that before we went out Kevin made me do this like squatting exercise. bleh!

I also had a chocolately drizzle Special K 90cal bar when I got home! gah.

Total calories: 1813
Total water was about 25fl oz.

8lbs too many

Sorry for the late post. I was tired yesterday so I didn't update.
I was already starting this day off with some stress because my car needed to get fixed and I wasn't sure who would do it as my dad called me at about 8:45am and left a msg saying he wouldn't be able to make it out. I got up a little later with the goal that I would complete my research paper that is over a week late, but I couldn't get my mind off my car and work and school. I was able to contact somebody that agreed to take a look at my car and then I got ahold of one of coworkers to cover my shift and I decided not to go to school, which was a bummer (I say that lightly) because my group was doing an experiment today for Research Methods, so I'm sure I'll get docked points for it. The project is like 5% of my grade. Oh well.

Breakfast:
So, my breakfast for the day is a bowl (3/4c) of Kellog's Fruit Harvest (110cal) w/ 1/2c 2% milk (70cal). Fruit Harvest is actually pretty good. Has like heartier corn flake type things and strawberries and blueberries. I also had a piece of toast (75cal) with a tablespoon of peanut butter (95cal) and a banana (90cal). It was all pretty tasty. Total calories for breakfast: 440.

I attempted to write my research paper, but only got the intro paragraph done before I started to feel drowsy. I swear schoolwork does this to me. So at about 12:30PM ish I fell asleep on the couch and woke up about 1/2hr later and realized the pen I was holding had been digging into the inside of my pinkie finger and left me hurting. I fell back asleep though and woke up at about 1:30ish. I felt so lame! I couldn't get back to my paper though.

So, I decided to take a shower and get dressed and walk down to the bank to deposit my money and maybe get something to eat. I invited Kevin along, which at first he was going to go to class, but decided to come with me and skip class. He was pretty skeptical of why I was deciding to hang out with him, because as he put it, I hate walking, hate the cold and hate the rain and it was all of those things. But it wasn't really raining, it was just sprinkling and was a bit windy outside. And I had to walk because the car was broken. We left at about 3:30pmish.

Lunch:

After depositing money in the bank, we walked over to Steve's Pizza. Their flyer looked like they had some really good food selection for good prices, but when we got inside, it wasn't what we expected. The prices were higher than the ad and they didn't have everything it said they did. It was a ghost town in there too. So, we decided to walk over to I love Teriyaki. We both ordered a chicken teriyaki plate. I had a cup of water with mine. I ate about half the rice and chicken and decided to save that until later. I estimated it to be about 300cal for the rice and chicken. I also ate 2 orange slices (about 16cal) and also some salad, I think it might have had some teriyaki on it. I'll estimate that to be about 25 calories. Total for lunch: 341.

Snack:
After lunch, Kevin got a haircut. Then he convinced me to walk over to CVS. Where we got some Naked Juices and an energy drink for him. I drank about half my strawberry banana one on the way home and then rest later(240cal). When we were walking back it was pretty windy and getting colder. We weren't home very long before the guy that was coming to take a look at my car was coming over.

So he got to working on my car and we couldn't really find where it was leaking tranny fluid. Then this one cat decided to come and hang out with us and take a look at my car.

Kevin came up with a catchy caption: "I think the problem with my car is the mechanic."

It was pretty funny. Finally, we found that my hose going from my radiator up to my transmission had a split in it, which was really good news because that was easy to fix. So, we decided to go up to Autozone and get the part and some fluid. It was a little difficult to get the part back on, but we finally did. We had to drive back up to Autozone though for another quart of tranny fluid. When I hopped in my car (by this time it was dark), I noticed that dang grey cat sitting in the back windshield! silly cat..had to shoosh it out of my car.

Dinner:

Before dinner, Kevin made me do some exercises with a new 8lb weight we just bought. I really didn't want to as I was pretty hungry by this point. I made myself 1.5 cup tortellini w/ 1/2c spaghetti sauce and a tsp of parmesan. After eating that though, I was still really hungry, so I ate about 1/2c of tortellini that Kev hadn't eaten. Total calories for dinner: 580.

Snack/Dessert:
Directly after dinner I was still really hungry so I ate a Special K 90cal chocolate bar. And then I ate a laughing cow cheese (35cal). I would have ate more, but I was a little grumpy and tired. So I went to bed instead.

It's raining transmission fluid

So, this is actually for yesterday, as I was supposed to work on a week late paper, but fell asleep while I as writing it. Oh well. I'll write it in a little bit. So yesterday, I'm driving back home from work and need to stop to get some gas. As I'm on the freeway I notice that my car sounds funny. And then as I'm getting off the freeway on the exit for the gas station, I notice it's driving funny, and then only going 30mph. So I pull into the gas station and park it and it's smoking from underneath my hood. I open it up and BAM!! transmission fluid is all over the place and dripping from underneath the car. Grr!! It's like 10:30pm and I don't know anyone that has towing equipment, which means I'll have to spend lots of money to get a tow ($100 in fact). And now it is raining today, which means that my father doesn't want to come out to take a look at what's wrong with it. (It also means anyone else I ask is also less likely to come out and take a look at it.) So, I have to miss class today and I'm contemplating taking work off because I can get to work via bus and light rail and take light rail home, but there's no bus at night time. And my coworker that drives by my exit is not working tonite. It's just one thing after another.

Breakfast:

For breakfast, I made a fritatta. It was my first time making it and was pretty simple. I posted the recipe on my recipes page. For one wedge it's only about 175cal! I only had about half a banana, with a quarter of it on a piece of peanut butter toast. mmmm. so yummy, but had so many calories in the one little thing. Had a total of 220cal. So my breakfast was a total of 395 cal. I had woke up and decided to make Kev breakfast before school (about 9:30am) and I think he liked it, so I think it's a winner! I think it could have had something else to it though, maybe finely chopped spinach or something. I also had a 16.9Fl OZ bottle of water with breakfast. It's easier to drink the water bottles then the fruit punch I have, because I don't want to wash a cup. haha.

Lunch:

I didn't get to make a lunch before I left the house today, so I had to wait until after class to eat, about 2:30pm. So I grabbed two Taco Bell fresco style soft tacos (total of 360cal). On my way home I was wishing I had bought a water bottle from Taco Bell because there was a terrible accident on the freeway and it slowed traffic to a snail crawl, which in turn made me 15min late to work and I didn't get the things down that I wanted to.

Snack:
I had a Special K 90cal strawberry bar. I think I agree with Jessica the strawberry is better than the chocolate. (Gasp! I can't believe I just said something was better than chocolate. I must be crazy) I had also grabbed a banana, but I didn't feel like eating it quite yet. I did grab another water bottle though and found its pretty easy to drink one bottle on my 15min drive to work. I left for work at about 3:20pm today.

When I got to work, I couldn't resist one of our oatmeal raisin cookies (and I should have). My manager estimated it to be 400calories. That is crazy. Because our restaurant has less than 25 restaurants in California, we don't have to provide nutritional information, which is a total bummer to me. I also ate 2 chips, but I mean how many calories could those have? According to Fitday a potato chip has 7.5cal, so my two chips were a total of 15 calories! bleh. stupid chips. At our restaurant the way they make homemade chips is just thinly slice potatoes, fry them in oil, and throw some salt on 'em. pretty basic but sooo tasty! I think at work I had also drank about 18FL OZ of water before I had dinner.

Dinner:

I had my tagliatelle creation, but this time I added asparagus and reverted back to butter. It was pretty tasty except my asparagus was a little too crunchy for my pasta and the cooks were making fun of me because I asked for garlic but picked it out. I told them I like the flavor cooked in it but not to eat the pieces. This pasta was about 505cal. So they told me to ask for minced next time. I also drank about another eh..12fl oz of water with dinner (around 9:30pm). Then, it was time to leave work and all the crazy stuff that I talked about above happened.

By the end of this posting I got someone to agree to come take a look at my car at about 5pm today. I'm trying to get my shift covered so I hope one of the girls responds back with a yes. And I'm missing class today because I dont feel like spending hours on busses and light rail today. My groupmates aren't going to be too happy as we're doing an experiment in class. Hey they can't say I didn't do anything. I did create the powerpoint presentation they need to do the experiment and I'll be back on Thursday to help them analyze the data. Well, I'm off to work on my Research Paper.

Death by Lollipop

So today went alright. I woke up around 8:45am this morning and picked up a little bit and started my laundry. After updating my blog from yesterday, I watched America's Next Top Model and I'm glad they sent Ainsley home, I just didn't think she was model material. She always looked like she was smelling something bad or just in a bad mood. Although, I was pretty sure they were going to send Alexandra home. She'll probably be next. Then I watch Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution. Very Insightful show. Go sign the petition so that Jamie can try to keep his good work rolling!

Breakfast:
Breakfast today was a piece of toast w/ 1/2Tbsp grape jelly (100cal) and a strawberry Yoplait cup (170cal). (Total for breakfast: 270 calories.)

Brunch:

Kevin woke up pretty late today, so I made brunch. I had 1/2c oatmeal w/ 1tsp splenda/brown sugar mix (170cal), 1/3 ham slice (50cal), 1 egg (70cal) and 1 turkey sausage patty (60cal). I was quite surprised at how low in calories the sausage patties were. The rest of the contents were pretty low too. I ate around 2pm. (Total for brunch: 380 calories.)

Snack:

I had 1 piece of ciabatta while I was at work (at about 5 or 6). I also had a Special K 90cal bar when I got home (about 7:30pm) and then a Laughing Cow Light orig. swiss flavor spreadable cheese wedge (only 35cal!)(about 9:30pm). It tasted sooo good too. I was going to spread it on crackers, but crackers have so many calories for so few crackers (like 150 for 3crackers. so lame.) (total for snacks: 175cal)

Dinner:
I had 1 1/2c five cheese tortellini (395cal) with 1/2 cup meat flavored Ragu (70cal, and also has more than a full serving of veggies) and 1/2tsp parmesan cheese (5cal). I was going to take a picture, but I ate it before I remembered. I hadn't really eaten since 2pm, so I was pretty hungry. I finally got to eat dinner at about 10:30pm. (total for dinner: 470cal)

Snack:
Because my calories were lower than my 1600 goal (up until now it was about 1300), I decided to eat a chocolate Special K 90cal bar. mmm..Not sure which one I like better though..strawberry or chocolate. Hard to find a winner.

Total Calories for the Day: 1355
My total water for the day is 57.8 FL OZ. I'm sleepy right now, so even though I was going to write my report that's about a week past due, I think I'll go to sleep and write it tomorrow. Ciao folks!

EDIT: oops forgot to mention why I titled this "Death by Lollipop". While Kevin and I were grocery shopping, he found this like slightly smaller than a baseball size lollipop and was joking about policeman just needing that to take down people. And how it would just make people feel terrible for being whooped by a lollipop. It was pretty funny while we were talking about it.:P

Saturdays are No Fun

So, like every Saturday I had to get up at 8am and get ready for work at U-haul. I was a little bit stressed already because I had to drive the car to work, back home, then Kev would drop me off at my other job and then drive out to roseville and then back out to Rancho Cordova. Lots of driving for a car that is having issues. It even died on me when I went to get lunch. Luckily I got it started though.

Breakfast:

Breakfast was just something quick. I had 3/4 Naked Juice Strawberry Banana smoothie (180 calories) I only had 3/4 because Kevin drank part of it while I was sleeping (even after I asked him not to). And I also had a special K 90 calorie strawberry bar. mmm..those are yummy. (total 270cal)

Lunch:

I got a Subway sandwich for lunch today. It was an oven roasted chicken sandwich on 9 grain wheat with lettuce, tomato, spinach, onions, olives, pickles and some pepper w/ lite mayo. I ended up eating the whole footlong so it was a total of 690 calories. It was pretty tasty though. I wasn't sure if it would be because normally I only have lettuce and tomato.

Snack:

I pretty much had this right after lunch, so you could include it in lunch too I guess. I was getting a little irritated at my Iphone camera because it kept wanting to focus on the background and not my yoplait(170cal). Don't know how to change that. oh well. Still takes pretty decent pictures. When I got home from Uhaul, I also ate a Special K strawberry 90cal bar, before I took a very short nap, which I was awoken by Kevin pouring a little bit of water on me. He thought it was so funny. Later on in the evening (about 6ish), I had a piece of ciabatta bread (about 80 calories). (total for snacks: 340cal)

Dinner:
For dinner, I had my tagliatelle pasta w/ chicken, garlic, broccolli and EVOO. and 3 pieces of ciabatta bread (240 calories). I only ate about MAYBE half of my pasta(200cal) though because by this time in the night I was highly stressed out and irritated. I was feeding off of someone else's high tension/stress energy and I just wanted to yell at them. And then some guy was being creepy at the light rail station and if he would have got any closer I would have maced him! He was just leering and being a little too close. You could tell this guy was probably on drugs and wanders the streets a lot. I didn't look him in the eye or engage him though. I just didn't want to have to deal with the crazy, ya know? There's no reasoning with sick people. When I got home I pretty much just fell asleep. The working and stress had taken a lot of me. (total for dinner: 440)

Total Calories for the Day: 1740
I'm getting pretty good now and eating better I think. I'm trying to be more conscientious of what I eat and how much I eat. It'd be nice to lose like 5lbs, but my goal is just to try to be a little healthier. Gotta start sometime. I'm worried about getting diabetes and having heart problems. I'm also worried about cancer, but that's a little harder to control than the previous two. My choices in eating now can effect getting those serious health problems later. One of my chef's at work is still pretty young and he just got diagnosed with diabetes! scary. I'm doing good so far on not having any soda (well, since last wednesday anyway). I'm really trying to cut it out of my diet. The naked juices help because they're so tasty, but I am trying to drink more water. I had a total of 57.8 FL OZ of water yesterday. That's pretty good. Drinking out of water bottles and cups with straws helped. Well, now it is Sunday and I will update you all later on today's progress!

Stress is bad for weight loss

So, today my gauges decide that they're going to go a little haywire right before I get off the freeway..and then later in the day my car didn't want to start. Probably because of a faulty fuel pump which decides it doesn't want to work when its hot outside. grr...it was causing me so much stress today that I almost had an anxiety attack at work...I'm sure I created lots of cortisol today. bad fattening stuff. Here's my food for the day:

Breakfast:
Light breakfast. I only had a Special K 90cal strawberry bar. I was going to drink Iced coffee w/ lowfat milk and 3 tsp sugar, but it just didn't taste good and upset my stomach so I passed on that.

Snack:
15 sunchips (140cal)

Lunch:

I didn't pack a lunch today, so I had a McDonald's ceasar salad with chicken (220cal) and half packet of Ranch (85cal) and an apple pie (250cal).

Dinner:

Pretty light dinner too. I dipped the bread roll(85cal) and 2 pieces of ciabatta(120 cal) in our minestrone broth(100cal?). Our minestrone has veggies in it and has a vegetable stock and i believe some olive oil. I take out all the veggies and just have the broth to dip the bread in. Normally stock is pretty low in calories, but like I said..I think we add EVOO to our minestrone.

Snack

A bowl of Kellog's Fruit Harvest cereal. The serving size is 3/4 cup (110cal) and I had 1 1/4 cup. (so mine was about 183cal). I also had 1c 2% milk which is 120calories. And I was going to have a strawberry banana Naked Juice smoothie, but Kevin drank half of it. Boo! So, I guess my calories count for that is 120cal.

I also drank 33.8 FL OZ of water today. Short of what I should have, but It's a work in progress.

It's not delivery....

Today was a tougher day for me on food..I've just been so worn out. I didn't want to go to class today, but if I didn't work on this experimental group project I would have lost 5% of my final grade and I don't think I can afford that for this class. I think in the summer I'll take Social Psych..Not sure about fall yet. The school counselor recommends tackling math. blah. I hate math like I hate exercising. Both something I shouldn't postpone.

Breakfast:

I had 2 slices of toast (150cal) w/ 1tbsp grape jelly (50cal)(total 200cal). Although, it was cold because I left it at home with some other stuff, so I dropped Kev off at school and came back and picked it up. I packed myself a lunch for school today.

Lunch:
It was a turkey sandwich (320cal), with 1 cup gala apple slices(approx 65cal), and 15 sunchips (140cal). I had to eat it fast though cause I only had 5 min before class. It was very hard to eat and I almost gave up eating anything at all, but I knew I would be a lot hungrier later if I didn't eat.

Snack:

I had an Power C Machine Naked Juice (240cal) and I've been sipping on a Starbucks hot chai w/ nonfat milk and 1 splenda (150cal) (i think they made mine a latte..not sure. I never order starbucks.) I don't even think I'll count the chai today because so far I've only drank like 1/8 (about 20cal) of it, if that. It's prob better iced.

Dinner:
I had two slices of Digiorno Rising Crust Pepperoni Pizza at 330cal a slice! Oh god, I felt so guilty about eating it, but I was hungry and sleepy and didn't feel like making my own dinner. So, dinner was a total of 660 calories and I'm still kind of hungry. I wish I had salad mix to go with it. I'm still working on my chai but its just getting lame and I've also opened up a bottle of water, but I'm not really that thirsty. I'm sure I'll have a snack later so I'll update this when I do. I think I'm going to be watching Saving Private Ryan with Kev and I'm also excited to watch Private Practice, but am definitely bummed out that they decided to postpone Grey's Anatomy ANOTHER week. blah.

Update:
Snack:
Had a Special K strawberry 90 calorie bar. It was so yummy, but I want to eat the whole box! Also had Yoplait Strawberry yogurt (170 cal).

Still raining...

Breakfast:

So, today I started off my day with a special K protein meal bar (strawberry flavor) which was 170calories.

After dropping Kevin off at school I took my car over to Les Schwab, which is where I am right now. I'm hearing a popping noise while braking and accelerating from the stopped position...The guy said it sounds like it could be the suspension, but that he'll take a look at the whole thing. (All for free! gotta love Les Schwab) So, while I'm here they have free coffee and popcorn! ahh god! popcorn is my downfall....luckily I have resisted it this time, but I love movie type popcorn. I couldn't resist the coffee though. I'm not sure how many calories it is. It's one small cup of coffee w/ 2 small packets of dry coffee mate and 3 sugar packets. (about 50 cal)Well, I'm just awaiting the results. I'll update you guys later on my food and car progress.

----
Ok, so Les Schwab tells me that basically I have to replace everything that I just fixed and basically it's going to cost me a lot. On top of that, I've sprung a leak in a hose and have to get that fixed. Blah!

Lunch:
I had a turkey sandwich(320cal), cinnamon applesauce cup(80cal), and 15 sunchips(140). total for lunch: 540 calories.

Snack:

I had a G2 low calorie fruit punch gatorade. It had only 70 calories! I also had a banana (140 calories). Oh, and one little strawberry banana strawberry square (20 cal)! gah..i felt guilty but I couldn't resist. Ooo..I also stole one lonely little Jack in the Box french fry from my dad's lunch. haha..not sure how many calories each of those were. Maybe 10cal?

Dinner:

I splurged on dinner because I took my neices out to eat at the restaurant I work at, Il Fornaio. I had 2 pieces bruschetta (approx 200 cal), bread & olive oil (prob about 150 cal), couple gnocchi pieces, some brocollini (both prob about 80 calories together), then for main course I had risotto, which had a creamy type sauce with chicken and asparagus. I only ate about half of it though, prob 250 cal.

We also had fun making jokes about the butt bread. haha. For dessert I had ordered a scoop of peach and a scoop of raspberry sorbet, but Samantha didn't like her Zabaione so I ended up eating some of it. By that time I didn't really want dessert..soo I'd say mine was probably about 150 calories. I also drank a couple cups of chamomile and citrus tea (which tasted mostly like lemon water). according to fit day, its only about 2cal per cup. so 6 calories total. that's good. I also had a 16oz sprite, which was about 200 cal. >.<

Total for the Day: 2036
Although, I probably underestimated the calories for dinner. Still, 2000cal is still higher than I want. I'm thinking around 16-1800 calorie daily diet. Any suggestions?

Kevin also bought me some swedish fish, but I don't feel like eating them. I told him I was going to get so fat and he said "I like you with some curves." blah. Oh, and I thought I had lost some weight, but my friend's scale had stuck..so I still weigh 131 pounds. Blah. Well, I'm tired and I'm going to go catch up on Lost and V. woot. Goodnight everyone!

Update:
I fell prey to my Swedish Fish candies! At about 12:30am, I started munching on them and ate the whole box at 300cal. So my total for the day would be 2336.

Tuesday, April 20, 2010

I'm on caffeine withdrawals. Super sleepy. Haven't had caffeine since Sunday. Trying to cut back on the soda intake.

Someone call the Doctor!

I was just checking my email and saw an interesting email from WebMd.com. It's on butt exercises for a better butt. I get emails like this all the time relating to things I'm actually interested in, like exercises, specific foods women should be eating..etc. So, I'd recommend going on WebMD and signing up for their newsletter!

It's raining, It's pouring, the old man is snoring

Today is super rainy and I don't want to go to school. I have a counseling appt to see if I'm on the right track at school. I might skip it though depending on how much work I need to get done during the lunch break. I also have to take the bus/light rail to work today cause Kevin has a class in Folsom while I am at work. so lame. I didn't finish that Research paper last night. I didn't even start it. My teacher let me know she does accept late assignments and if I'm doing well in everything else, I could afford to lose some points and still get a good final grade. That doesn't help my procrastination. haha. I was super tired last night though. My friend's baby being boring on Friday night totally messed up my energy levels and sleeping habits. He's so adorable though. His name is Christian Valentino Reed and weighed 8lb 6oz and was 21 1/2 in long.

Breakfast:

I had an Il Fornaio pumpkin muffin, that has raisins and chopped nuts. It is approx. 450 calories according to this one website called Fitday. They have a calorie program to tell you calories of a food you're looking for. I also had a 4 oz cinnamon applesauce which has 80 calories.

Snack:

I had a 90 calories special k strawberry bar and a "Power C Machine" naked juice at 240 calories/bottle.

Lunch:

For lunch I had a turkey sandwich on whole grain white. Bread was 150cal/2 slices, turkey was 20cal/slice (total 4 slices=80calories), and 1 tbsp mayo at 90calories. total for sandwich: 320 calories. Also had some sunchips at 140cal/15 chips. total for lunch: 460 calories.

Snack:
I had 1/2 of an Il Fornaio brownie(approx. 125 calories), and 2 bruschetta pieces (approx. 180 calories).

Dinner:

Had the same pasta dish as last night except for tonite I had it made with EVOO instead of butter. same calorie content but has "happy fat" as my coworker endearingly put it. She also tells me I need to workout out and that I'm lazy. haha. Also with dinner I had about 1 1/2 cup mixed berries. (approx 100 calories)

Late Night Snack:
Had 1 slice of toast with .5 oz of strawberry jam. (approx.160cal )I also had a cup of hot chocolate (100 calories) (haha..this is where I fell asleep last night while trying to finish this up)

So Total Calories for the day: 2325
Darn, I though I was doing so well that day.

Hungry already..dang mondays.

Breakfast:

Today, I have started my day off with a bowl of cinnamon Life cereal with low fat milk-approx 250 calories. I was going to eat lucky charms, but the little marshmallows were stale and squishy instead of light and fluffy. (so sad). I guess Life is healthier anyway.

Lunch:
No lunch today so far, unless you count the sparkling water. I'm quite hungry now and don't really have time to eat before work. I'm at school in Folsom right now and get out at 2:20pm and work in Downtown Sacramento at 3:30pm. I still have to run home in Rancho Cordova to change into my work clothes and straighten my hair. Maybe I can grab some Taco Bell on the way home. (I know..so unhealthy. Maybe I'll get it fresco style.)

I might try to find my nutrition program CD. It was an awesome program that I used that I could input my daily food and it would analyze it for me and tell me what I'm getting too much of (generally sodium) and getting too little of (generally omega 3 cause I never eat seafood). Maybe another day.

EDIT: For Lunch, I had 2 fresco style Taco Bell soft tacos, and 1 regular style, which according to taco bell's nutrition calculator says it was a total calorie count of....580! The one regular taco had almost as many calories as the two fresco style ones. crazy. woo..but a whoppin 1900mg of sodium.

For Snack (which was pretty much directly after lunch on my way to work, I had a cinnamon applesauce, which is about 4 oz. and had 80 calories.

Also, when I got to work I had about 1 1/2 cup berries which is approx 100calories.

Dinner:

For dinner, I had the cooks at my work make something not on the menu. Tagliatelle (similar to fettuccine), about 1/3 cup broccolli, 1/3-1/2 cup chicken, some garlic pieces, and butter. My boss said it was probably around 400 calories. and that 3 the ciabatta pieces I ate were about 60 calories each..so a total of 180 calories, but I dipped it in about 1 tbsp of Extra Virgin Olive Oil. wow! 120 calories per tbsp. crazy. I didn't have all the oil though, so we'll say 80 calories. I also had 12 oz of sprite, which is 140 calories.

almost forgot, Late Night Snack

Kevin and I shared a rootbeer float from Denny's, which has 430 calories. (I ate most of it, so I'll say I had 300 calories). Then I had some oatmeal, with about a tablespoon of brown sugar and a 1/2 tbsp of whipped margarine (25 calories). I didn't use the milk because it was liquidy enough. Oatmeal w/ about 8oz milk on Denny's website is 270 calories. wow a 10oz milk at dennys is 130 calories, so because I didn't use the milk my oatmeal was only about 170 calories.

Total calories for the day: 2305! crazy. That's way over where I want to be. Its the simple things I could have cut out, like the bread pieces, or the soda, or the root beer float. Oh well.

Water Consumption

Found a great website (thanks Jessica!) about how much water you should consume in a day. This is one thing I am really bad at doing as I pretty much hate drinking water. I do like my cousin's suggestion about drinking it out of a straw or adding lime or lemon. I would also suggested flavored sparkling water, but I really don't know if its still healthy. Nothing's healthier than regular, plain water though. (bleh). I'll go for throwing in a lemon.

Anyway, at this Human Water Requirements website it says my water consumption should be about 56 FL OZ, which is approx. 7 glasses of water. That seems like so much to me! Although, to put in perspective, the picture I posted below of the grape water is 33.8 FL OZ, so I would only need to drink that and fill it up one more time and that would be my daily water amount. That's not so bad.

Love this stuff

Love this stuff. No calories, sugar or sodium. This one tastes just like grape soda.
I was thinking about my nutrition class and how it informede of a great website. Www.mypyramid.gov. It has excellant tools and resources to help anyone get started on a healthier body.

Ciao!

Welcome To My Blog

Welcome to Crystal's Food Journey. As you probably saw in the About Me section, I'm going to be following my daily food intake and post recipes. As I develop this blog more, I may venture out into an exercise plan, but as of right now I don't really feel like exercising.

Ciao for now! I was supposed to be working on my Research Paper instead of making a new blog. Ooops. haha.
